FATE

Meet-Ups For Adventurous Creatives

What Is Fate?

FATE stands for Friendship, Adventure, Technology, and Experiences. It’s a creative adventure community designed for photographers, videographers, writers, and storytellers who want to connect with like-minded people, get outside, and document the world around them—without feeling like they’re “too much” for doing so.

WHAT IS FATE?

FATE is a growing creative community and movement built around the core pillars of:

  • Friendship – building genuine, lasting connections between creatives

  • Adventure – exploring the outdoors, embracing the unknown, and pushing personal boundaries

  • Technology – integrating tools like cameras, drones, and audio gear into storytelling

  • Experiences – shared moments that spark inspiration, content, and collaboration

FATE is not a formal agency or guided experience.. it's a community-driven space where creativity meets exploration. It’s about creators coming together, not just to work, but to connect, explore, and document the world around them in their own way.

CORE PURPOSE

FATE exists to solve a very real problem many creatives face:

“I want to go out and create something, but I don’t know anyone who gets it.. or I feel like I’m holding up the group when I try.”

FATE is the solution: a space where you don’t have to explain why you want to stop mid-hike for a drone shot, set up a tripod for a cinematic B-roll, or write a paragraph while sat on a rock with a view. Everyone’s here to do the same.

It’s a judgment-free zone for creators who crave adventure and community.

WHO IS IT FOR?

FATE is open to creatives of all levels.
From beginners to seasoned pros.. so long as they’re able and willing to document the journey in some form.
We're looking for adventurous:

  • Photographers

  • Videographers

  • Drone Operators

  • Writers

  • Hybrid creatives – content creators who do a bit of everything

FATE values attitude over accolades. You don’t need a huge following or a professional background. You just need curiosity, creativity, and a collaborative spirit.

HOW IT WORKS

The Structure (So Far)

  • Meet-Ups:
Informal day trips or weekend gatherings, centered around a location or shared goal (e.g., a hike, a creative challenge, or an activity like rock climbing or skiing).

  • Loose Format:
No rigid itinerary. Each trip is designed to allow freedom to create, explore, and connect at your own pace.

  • Collaborative Energy:
Creators are encouraged to help one another with shots, share ideas, or simply enjoy being around others who ‘get it.’

  • Organic Growth:
FATE isn’t a monetised program or subscription model—it’s community-first, with low barriers to entry and high potential for meaningful connections.

Event Examples (Now & Future)

  • Hiking in the Lake District or Scottish Highlands

  • Urban exploration in visually rich cityscapes

  • Ski meet-ups in the Cairngorms

  • Rock climbing or bouldering weekends

  • Road trips, wild swims, campfire nights, or photography challenges

FATE meet-ups are about blending adventure with intention, having a great time while also producing something creatively fulfilling.

PREVIOUS CREATIVE MEET-UPS

2025

19th April - Easter Weekend -

Our very first meet-up was located in the Lake District, where we hiked up to Crinkle Crags. I wanted the community to develop naturally and without using advertising to get people onboard, it's not meant to be a hard sell. I was reaching out to strangers on Instagram & Linkedin - giving details and hoping they would translate into a meet, when the day came!  I was a little torn with how to manage the information - on one hand I wanted it to be freely accessible and on the other I didn't want to publicly say things like:

  • Where we are parking - Incase this led to the wrong type of people potentially targeting the vehicles parked (Knowing that attendees are going to be bringing equipment on the trip and some of it might be in the cars.

  • Sharing mobile numbers - I thought some people might avoid joining a WhatsApp group incase other people in the group decided to just start getting in touch with them via their mobile.

When the day finally rolled round, there was me & Helena. Helena and I actually went to college together and she loves photography in her spare time. We haven't seen each other in many years, so it was great to catch up and I could really see where this could go! Both of us able to chat, stop to take some snaps of what we saw, while snapping a few candid photographer (Inception) shots... A Photographer Photographing a Photographer Photographing the Scenery.

It may have only been 1 person that turned up.. but I will still take this as a win, because it had me:

  • Rekindling an old friendship

  • Climbing a route (Crinkle Crags), which i've never done before

  • Taking photographs (I would have flown the drone but it was pretty windy!

  • I finished off the day by heading off in my own direction to wild camp next to Angle Tarn

I was trying to launch this, while also launching my own business (Instinctive Media as of 2025)... so I may have bitten off more than I could chew at this time... However, I kept thinking of words from people saying - There will always be something keeping you busy and time will pass by, over and over again... It was hard to bite the bullet and keep going through with it. I have never created a meet-up event before and it was a massive learning experience. There are many things I will change moving forwards and I cannot wait to do the next one!

LONG TERM VISION

FATE isn’t just a hobby, it’s the start of something much bigger.

The future potential includes:

COMMUNITY PLATFORM

  • A place for members to share content, plan joint trips, and connect across regions

  • Could include forums, group chats, location-sharing, creative briefs, etc.

BRAND SPONSORSHIPS

  • Outdoor and tech brands could sponsor events, covering costs in exchange for visibility and content

  • Brands can be present at meet-ups but must respect creative freedom

  • No prescriptive content briefs, just support and mutual value

CREATOR DEVELOPMENT

  • Skill-sharing meet-ups, portfolio-building opportunities, and challenges

  • Potential for collaborative projects that turn into client work, short films, or brand partnerships

APPAREL & MERCH (Organic Growth)

  • FATE-branded clothing or accessories designed for function and identity, not hype

  • Worn because people believe in what the brand represents—freedom, creativity, and community

WHAT MAKES FATE DIFFERENT?

  • It’s not a workshop. No one is “teaching” you, everyone is exploring and growing together.

  • It’s not a content farm. There’s no pressure to churn out deliverables; you're free to create what resonates with you.

  • It’s not cliquey. There are no follower-count expectations or gatekeeping, all that matters is your mindset.

  • It’s not tied to one medium. Whether you shoot film, fly drones, write poetry, or just want to experiment—FATE welcomes all forms of documentation.
